Politics 101

Nueva Esperanza, Inc. is looking for aspiring leaders who wish to gain some skills around civic engagement and community advocacy and will commit to attending the entire course of Politics 101. We are recruiting mainly in the South Holyoke and Flats neighborhoods, but will accept any interested participants who will commit to attend all workshops.

Through this workshop, you will learn how our local and state politics work; Understand how to make your vote count; Build Power as a Community; Know what keeps citizens from engaging in city matters; Learn about Institutional & Systemic Oppression; Experience a City Council meeting and learn about Board Rules & Parliamentary Procedures.

This is a FREE 8 week course! The program will begin on September 16, 2015 at 5:30 at the Mercado located at 413 Main Street, Holyoke. Dinner will be provided.

Politics 101 is made possible thanks to the Carlos Vega Social Justice Fund grant program.
